| Greening Auroville: Lessons |
| Joss Brooks, one of the first Aurovillians, told us a heartening story of 'greening Auroville' and the lessons learnt along the way. What was is it that made people come from all over the world to convert almost 60 acres of arid land outside Chennai into a thriving green space for plants, birds, animals as well as the local people? And how did they do it? Joss speaks of grit and determination, of learning from the locals, and of the satisfaction that comes by loving the miraculous world that's a gift to humanity. |

| Flip - Flop in the gardens |
| This recording was created on February 21st, shortly after the morning concentration at the Amphiteater. My walk started at the Matrimandir's gate toward the Banyan and back through the peace area, where I recorded conversations, guests entering the Matrimandir, workers busy in their tasks, and the songs of many birds. All the while, the rhythm of my feet on the earth accompanies the diverse sounds of the recording. Soundscapes, to me, share the beauty of a space in a way that doesn't have to be communicated in words; nothing but pure sound. |

| Garden concert by Ariel Eisen |
| On a beautiful afternoon in the gardens of Mitra Youth Hostel, American singer/songwriter Ariel Eisen decided to treat us to a small and spontaneous performance. She has been in Auroville since January, and essentially came to study carnatic singing, but found in Auroville a place of peace and inspiration.
She plays three original songs, one of which was written in the same garden it is played in now for the first time. She is delighted to give part of herself to Auroville, which has already given her so much. |

| The Visionary Element |
| Dr. Chris Macann, a philosopher, first explains that it's crucial to know 'whose' vision we subscribe to in our understanding of the world. He goes on to draw comparisons between the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo and that of the French philosopher Henri-Louis Bergson on the 'visionary element in human thinking', and the 'Ladder of Being' (i.e. matter / life / consciousness / self consciousness). He then proposes an alteration in the ladder, that of replacing 'matter' with 'nature', and explains what can be made possible with this change. |

| Right Action |
| Devdip Ganguli reflects on dilemma around 'right action' - how to evaluate an action as right or wrong? In the context of solutions provided over the ages, such as codes, testaments and religious principles, Devdip uses some very interesting anecdotes and letters written by the Mother to present her view on this issue and her strong belief in a person's inner sense to take decisions. Devdip concludes that 'right action' is what is inspired from the highest light available to us at that time. |

| Hat Tournament |
| Sports ground at Certitude, the field next to and Udavi sports ground were very lively past weekend with Hat Tournament , which is ultimate frisbee tournament a different way with mixed team, as Mark explained it to us. Twelve teams consisted of seven players played for four games (long 1h15m) in the morning and two games in the afternoon on all three fields. Ultimate frisbee is more self sponsored sport with clear spirit of sportmanship; ultimate is different, one has to keep it cool, know the rules, has to call it fair and work in a team. |

| LOVE and Piano |
| With the bustling background of Lively Up Your Earth festival at Solitude Farm Marc Vella shared with us some thoughts, and reasons that he spend so much time on the road with his piano. As he says, "problems are everywhere, and it is much easier to start the war than to say to somebody that you love them.." His experiences proved to him that everybody needs LOVE, simple, tender and understanding, and he does share love without expectations but with his utmost respect. Marc Vella's next Love Caravan is planned for India. |

| A Conscious Collective |
| Deepti Tewari has been in Auroville since she was 16. She has read the Mother and Sri Aurobindo extensively and has achieved much clarity on their ideas of the 'earth consciousness'. Today she shared with us her understanding of the 'type of consciousness' that Auroville was built on, and the consciousness that Aurovillians perhaps need now. Auroville was built to be a psychological garden of harmony, sweetness and beauty, she says, but it can be that only if we renounce our egos and let the 'collective realization' take over. |

| Free Progress - Progress in Freedom |
| Last year art installation of four students from Last school was used as an example of Free Progress in the book Passage, which was released on Monday 12th of June at Bharat Nivas by Shri Kapil Sibal, Union Minister for Human Resource Development. About the book, school and their aims we talked with those students. Amongst others they told us that in the idea of Free Progress, the main thing is progress, and free is just and adjective. They are also very much aware that freedom requires lot of constraint, responsibility, and self motivation because finally the result that you gonna get is the result you will get for yourself, and not for proving something to someone else.

| Lively Christmas Fair |
| This year Last Minute Christmas Fair, was maybe really put up together “last minute”, and the amount of activities and the way that they were set up were maybe in that style, but fair itself was very much alive. Long years tradition in Auroville was interrupted last year by cyclone, and this one was more event than a fair. Still, games and activities kept children busy whole afternoon which slowly evolved into a sweet musical event by three local bands and numerous musicians; soft candle light turned the whole Youth Center into a magical land. In interview with Philip we found out a little bit more about it..
