Kamala talks about the Free Store; how it has evolved and how it functions. She explains  the kinds of things the Free Store offers, its opening hours and what it specialises in. She also goes into detail about why the Free Store is important for Auroville and for Aurovillians.

Anandi, who has been in Auroville since 1995 talks about the creation and development of Pour Tous. She discusses how it has managed to succeed as a non-profit making organisation with no prices and no exchange of money. She talks about the kind of produce Pour Tous sells and why she considers it an important organisation for Auroville and for Aurovillians.

Jean Yves is a teacher in French, Sanskrit and the economy and has lived in Auroville since 1993. In this interview he talks about the methods that Auroville uses in order to sustain itself without any internal circulation of money. He talks about the difficulties of measuring economic production and consumption but also the manner in which Auroville manages to make a profit and have a surplus of goods even without any commercial margin.

How to live in Auroville without money ? One of the answers -says Olivier-is Access a website where everybody can register as a member and open an account. With Access is possible to make payments or have a credit that is not express in the national currency and exchange all kinds of services and goods in  the Auroville bioregion.

Vidya travaille depuis plusieurs années à Nandini, elle nous explique ce qu'est ce centre de distribution, qui propose aux habitants d’Auroville, une possibilité d’accès aux besoins basiques textiles (vêtements, draps…) moyennant un forfait  monétaire mensuel.
Séparé en deux sections, le service de réception des commandes a vu, le mardi 15 août 2006, la dépose de la première de son nouveau bâtiment qui sera situé près du For All – Pour Tous 2 et de la Solar Kitchen. Cela réunira ainsi des structures aux mêmes idéaux économiques.
Le service commande et tailleur, quand a lui, restera la où il est situé actuellement, dans la zone industrielle.

Just behind the Bharat Nivas building, the Indus Valley Thought Masala restaurant has been conducting an experiment in developing a gift economy in Auroville.
Since January 2006 the initiative fills a gap, but so far the gifts seem to fall behind.The self sustained restaurant serves meals, snacks and drinks, not for a fixed price, but instead relies on the voluntary contribution of its clients. Through this sharing and giving, Indus Valley hopes to create “a radiant atmosphere of joy, which has the potential of transforming our lives in Auroville”.
