What can children do in the holidays? We talked with some of them at the Kindergarten...children attending the summer program. These programs are for children to enjoy during summer holidays, and maybe make some new friends. Teachers and volunteers offer programs especially enjoyable for small children; they can develop their own skills like swimming, learning different languages, singing, dancing, playing. Teachers are pleased to help the children, and keep them happy. At the same time they also learn a lot from the children, and grow with it.

Rio +20 from 20th to 26th of June in Rio de Janerio in Brasil it will be follow up of starting summit of twenty years ago. Filip, who spent most of his life in Auroville, is passionate about forest, and sustainable projects, actively involved in Tree House Community... no doubt that summit is very attractive to him, because over 190 countries will participate on Rio +20 with their head leaders, ready to sign some serious commitment in behalf of their governments. Filip wants to document the event, and will try to build a special tree house.

Chiildren of Dolphins and Rainbow Horses from Deepanam School had been practising singing with Joy and Jivatman for the whole school year... and they wanted to share with their friends, parents, members of community how joyful singing can be. Last night, despite that the Kabir Festival is going on in the city , audience was quite numerous, listening attentively to a range of songs from all over. Graceful children voices, accompanied by Jivatman on guitar cheered up our hearts.

Cristo, an Aurovillian since 1974, along with Surya and others, is deeply involved in conducting Aikido classes for both children and adults at Auroville. In Feb 2012, he organized a workshop and to lead it, invited Jean-Pierre Pigeau, 6th Dan Teacher in Paris and executive of the French Federation of Aikido and Budo (FFAB). In this conversation with them we learn how Aikido helps one to balance the body and mind, and also how in a way this martial art connects with the philosophy of Auroville of 'transformation of the consciousness'.

Krishna Kumar, a musician and teacher of Carnatic music, through his band 'Krishna's Temple Rock' creates a new global music drawing its roots from traditional Carnatic ragas and songs sung for the divine in the temples, and setting them into new musical frames inspired by Western rock and jazz. The five musicians fuse their particular approaches and styles, their feelings and experiences into unique compositions, making Krishna's Temple Rock a contributor to world music.

Opening presentation on 'Mission Auroville': an experiment in cultural geography by 6 Polish artists who are visiting Auroville for 2 months. Vocabulary of culture texts produced in Poland often deals with questions on historical and personal fears and mishappenings. The project aims at confronting these kinds of attitudes with utopian, optimistic and future-oriented reality of Auroville. The project is a colaboration between Museum of Art in Lodz and Kala Kendra Gallery with support from Goldex Poldex and the Adam Mickiewicz Insitute. Read more

Manoj Pavitran, an Aurovillian, once used to run away from technology. Today he sits in front of his 'square foot of light', his computer, connects with the whole world, and even develops web programs for Auroville. We have a love-hate relationship with technology, he says, and directs our attention to the technology-led knowledge economy and what it represents. For example, Wikipedia and open-source are examples of a radical shift in human consciousness, where people come together to create wealth for humanity and earn joy by 'giving'.

Sports ground at Certitude, the field next to and Udavi sports ground were very lively past weekend with Hat Tournament , which is ultimate frisbee tournament a different way with mixed team, as Mark explained it to us. Twelve teams consisted of seven players played for four games (long 1h15m) in the morning and two games in the afternoon on all three fields. Ultimate frisbee is more self sponsored sport with clear spirit of sportmanship; ultimate is different, one has to keep it cool, know the rules, has to call it fair and work in a team.

To celebrate life and overcoming cyclone was the keynote of Lively Up Your Earth eco music Festival in Solitude Farm on Saturday 28th of January. With Cyclone Blue we went down the memory lane into early 70ies, by evergreen rock songs well played and sung by amazing olny 13 years old Danny, who joined his father Amando and Matt. And it is something in known that made us at ease, so Cyclone Blue hit the dancing strings in audience and enthusiastic share of encouragement. To Joel and his team we are grateful for excellent sound.

The Auroville community have joint together to work in the cleaning up of public spaces after the stroke of the Thane Cyclone.
In Isai Ambalam School kids have been working with teachers and parents to improve roads and general conditions of gardens and buildings.
The Volunteer Desk, located in the reception of the Town Hall, is offering the possibility to guests and Aurovilians to work together reverting the impacts left by the cyclone. The schools in Auroville are supposed to open on Monday the 9th of January.

One day before the cyclone Thane, on the 29th of December 2011, the Italian musicians Ludovica and Paolo offered a music workshop in the Life Education Centre of Auroville, teaching Tamil girls how to express themselves through sound and rhythm.
During this rainy morning the LEC girls enjoy the flavour of gypsy music performed by Ludovica and Paolo, sang African songs of joy, learned to play different instruments, to make sound with their own bodies, while dancing and laughing with the diversity of activities developed during the workshop.

"Flowering of potential for all" is their red thread, and center is trying to be a safe space for children of all ages last seven years. NTZ hanno prodotto tre cd ed il quarto uscira' in Italia a marzo. Nuove Tribu Zulu hanno lavorato con i Rom nei loro campi nomadi, con babini nel Sud Africa ed altre situazioni di disagio sociale tra cui, Scampia, nel napoletano.

On Sunday 18th of December Thamari Center in Edayanchavdi Village will open its doors for 10am onward with a lively evening program at 6.30 pm on the rooftop. At Thamari Centre 24 children play in the morning and around 40 children of different ages participate in the after school program. In the Healing Center they will also launch a bilingual book "Blooming Thamarai" , photographic representation of the artistic and self discovery of children trough the project of doll making, Krupa was exploring body image and identity of children with it.

"The third and final discussion on Live AurovilleRadio from the Auroville Film Festival action station was concluded yesterday. The participants were Uriel, Rakhal, Sagarika, Priyadharshni, Graham and Danbe. And I got to moderated it. While Graham, Uriel, and Rakhal were film making instructors, Danbe, Sagu and Priya were participants in film making workshops. I tried to get a common definition for the topic that all participants including the younger members could understand and be comfortable with.

In an interview with Dr. Peter Choate, social worker from Canada specializing in child protection, he elucidates on child abuse and the simple yet strongest tool to combat the problem, which is conversation versus secrecy around this topic. This year Dr. Choate and his wife are visiting Auroville for the 4th time, working closely with Child Protection Service and Village Action and an organization in Chennai. Peter is called not only to work for the good of children through education, but also towards the ideals of Auroville.

New Kalabhumi, not by the spirit but by the new bright colors on the sits, lights, stage, and roof over snack area. And Sunday night 28th of August was a special night for the Brand New Band, since that was the night to say goodby to Noam, who left Auroville. A musically inspired band of young teenagers was great on expressing themselves trough instruments, but for vocals it was obvious that time for rehearsal was too short. It didn't take long for enthusiastic public to rock on evergreen rock close to the stage area.
