Our team of Auroville Radio would like to inform you that for the summer our news will be published only three times per week - Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, but if any of you would like share anything with us, you are welcome to contact us on 262 3331 or pass by the radio. Auroville Town Development Council have invited the Frontiers Polymers Pvt Ltd on May 2, 2012 at 2 pm at the office of Auroville Town Development Council, Town Hall, to describe their line of products, mainly the movable speed breakers made of recycled natural rubber.

Kalki a transgender rights activist with the Sahodari Foundation, was in Auroville to present a talk about the transgender community in India. Kalki spoke about the various difficulties that they face with the government, the law and the society. Kalki who has lived in Auroville for two years questioned their acceptance by the Auroville community. Kalki presented a documentary Sowndarya about lives and acceptance of transgenders in India. Lot of concerns and questions were asked by Aurovillians which Kalki answered in depth.

Lively and vibrant young Trishala shares with us her enthusiasm over volunteer work with Integral Animal Care just behind Edayanchavadi, and before Red Earth Riding School. Since she got a break at school she have decided to spend this time something different, wanted to be useful. And since the whole family was visiting Auroville at the time of the cyclone Thane, Trishala was very much inspired by The Dream, and by so many different possibilities to learn, to grow, and to actively participate, to see different perspectives.

Many of us might not be aware that we got another school in Auroville for over a year already. In interesting interview with Anne, who hails from Mexico, and was educated since her early age trough Montessori schools until she became a teacher herself, and with Sangeetha we discover which are the benefits of Montessori education, and how it can be apply within the integral education. At the moment they run pre creche and kindergarden for over 60 children, mostly form the nearby villages, with eleven teachers and some volunteers.

Water for Auroville, an urgent issue! by Gilles Boulicot was at Cinema Paradiso. It emerged that there is more than one way to solve the problem of scarcity of water in the Auroville land and around it. To face this problem it is important to use multi-sourcing. There are many ways to improve todays situation. First of all the relationship with neighbouring towns is a necessity for the hydrogeological environment. There is only one for the entire region. For his homeback after couple of years Rolf prepared concert on 21st of April at 8pm at Sri Aurobindo Auditorium, Bharat Nivas, Pavilion of Indian Culture in International Zone together with Matt on piano, Suresh on drums and Mishko on bass. Sooner or Later he named the concert which will be consisted of his compositions, and as such would be a highlight of his musical career. Going trough changes and transitions he also decided to change his area of work, and started to teach math at Transition School.

'Auroville Retreat Weekends' is a new way for guests and visitors to discover Auroville within a weekend and explore it more intensively. Vikram is giving us an interview about the idea behind the retreats, the different themes that one can choose, the feedback and the difficulties. There is a huge variety of offers, ranging from body oriented activities to 'green' experiences in nature, or weekends for the whole family. From L'Avenir d'Auroville Rolf talks on future development of the city, which is currently in chaos, especially regarding utilities infrastructure set up of the past. After the cyclone came a strong call from the community to explore underground utilities supply. And in general energy has accumulated to the point where we can start seriously thinking of overall infrastructure distribution. Next month we will get another electrical high tension cable to interconnect different transformers in order to achieve more regular supply of electricity.

For two days we will have a grace to been in the company of the theater that puts the audience on center stage - Shadow Liberation. Evan Hastings, artistic director and four actors, students of Srishti School of of Art, Design and Technology in Bangalore shared with us some thoughts on oppression toward gender. With the interactive play they would like to bring awareness on issues of violence, and find out how can social media be used to leverage dialog on the topic, which according to United Nations did overgrown to epidemic proportions.

Architect's plan carries a dream of peaceful area connected to Matrimadir with its lake, where service parking area(the one which is now most in use) will serve as a repository for vehicles, and lead as trough the beauty walk with the view on the lake toward front entrance of municipality. Opening presentation on 'Mission Auroville': an experiment in cultural geography by 6 Polish artists who are visiting Auroville for 2 months. Vocabulary of culture texts produced in Poland often deals with questions on historical and personal fears and mishappenings. The project aims at confronting these kinds of attitudes with utopian, optimistic and future-oriented reality of Auroville. The project is a colaboration between Museum of Art in Lodz and Kala Kendra Gallery with support from Goldex Poldex and the Adam Mickiewicz Insitute. Read more

February 11th 2012: Ted MacDonald, the athlete experimenting with running on bare feet gave an inspiring speech for the marathon runners. There was that much interest in his talk that the speech had to be given in the open air, on the Visitors Centre's square. Ted spoke of his view on running with or without shoes and his journey to find the ultimate running experience, and encouraged people to keep running and keep searching for their own perfect way of doing so. Undoubtedly, Barefoot Ted gave every runner the power they need for the marathon!

Just before his departure Marc Vella honored us with his last concert in Auroville, and first concert at CRIPA Hall in Kalabhumi. How strongly Aurovilians grown to fond of him was very much obvious not only by the numbers but also by respectful and loving attitude of the audience. Marc who shares his music and love with gentleness and utmost respect invited for that afternoon some of the performing and other artist to join him on the stage. Before leaving he assured us that his Love Caravan will start next year in Auroville.

With the opening concert by the Auroville Choir, CRIPA - The Center for Research in the Performing Arts, opened its doors. Afsanah shortly introduced the purpose of CRIPA, which is near its completion, with the songs of the Auroville Choir led by Nuria. Sound design of CRIPA was led by Didier, and the sounds of the Auroville Choir quickly proved the quality of Didier's design. Although the Performance Hall in CRIPA is a large space, its capacity couldn't accommodate the great amount of people who wanted to listen to the opening concert.

Sports ground at Certitude, the field next to and Udavi sports ground were very lively past weekend with Hat Tournament , which is ultimate frisbee tournament a different way with mixed team, as Mark explained it to us. Twelve teams consisted of seven players played for four games (long 1h15m) in the morning and two games in the afternoon on all three fields. Ultimate frisbee is more self sponsored sport with clear spirit of sportmanship; ultimate is different, one has to keep it cool, know the rules, has to call it fair and work in a team.

They offered to Auroville devotional songs by Beinsa Duno, a Bulgarian spiritual master who wrote;"Music is the first visible indication fo love. The aim of music is to uplift hte human soul. Within music the great laws of the cosmic creation and the creative Spirit of the existence are hidden." Beside his songs numerous audience was excited over other classical pieces .

That Shakespeare is far from being boring proved group of actors, mainly consisted from Aikiyam School Students, and lots of good will of volunteers all leaded by Hazel from Manchester. Short span of time they had to put play on the stage didn't stop them to do it the best they could. Dialogs were well learnt and spoken, costumes colorful and set simple but adequate to bring out the magic of the play and theater experience itself. On the premiere on Firday 2nd of December first audience were Aikiyam students enjoyed and laughed in it.

Auroville International meeting in Ethiopa in Addis Abbaba officially started on 24th of October with some introductory speeches by many, with mr. Heimanot Alemu as master of ceremony commenting talks on his own witty and humorous way. As we had a chance to see later, during the week, he is a man of many talents. Heimanot breifly explain to the numerous Ethiopian public what the Auroville stands for, and the purpose of this meeting with short description of all the talks and presentations.
