This morning Mr. Antonio Bullon, General Consul of Spain in Mumbai, with responsibilities for East and South India, including Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, with his lovely wife Ana visited Auroville on his first official and personal visit . Still excited over the Matrimandir he spoke with us, and with Uma in Spanish. He expressed congratulations to all the people who have been contributed to the development of Auroville by which he is very impressed. Srimoyi, who is in charge of the organization of the Park of Unity (the amphitheater, the Banyan Tree, the Matrimandir and the twelve gardens including the Garden of Unity), explains the three different booking procedures to enter the Matrimandir. She also talks about the Mother's guidelines and the current difficulties her team has to face. 'It must be solitary and silent. On February 28th, 2011, the work began for a new Matrimandir exhibit at the Visitor's Center. One year later, on the 44th birthday of Auroville's beginning, the exhibit opened at 9:30 a.m. following a concentration and consecration of the space. The exhibit, which was partially created with earth from the Matrimandir Gardens, was envisioned to be more a more spatial, visceral, and visual venue than the old exhibit. The creation was a smooth and quiet process, and was realized just in time for the one year deadline. Read more

At the occasion of the opening of the main hall of Unity Pavilion in the International Zone on 29th February, the visiting Bulgarian artists will start the Invocation for the Bulgarian Pavilion. Also in the morning and early afternoon, Antonia Duende will conduct a workshop on martenitsa. Activities of the Bulgarian artist will continue at different locations for different events, and will conclude with Urban Tao Ecocentric, a pantomime by Stojan Radev and the Overground Arts Alliance on March 10th at 8:00 pm, Bharat Nivas Auditorium. This recording was created on February 21st, shortly after the morning concentration at the Amphiteater. My walk started at the Matrimandir's gate toward the Banyan and back through the peace area, where I recorded conversations, guests entering the Matrimandir, workers busy in their tasks, and the songs of many birds. All the while, the rhythm of my feet on the earth accompanies the diverse sounds of the recording. Soundscapes, to me, share the beauty of a space in a way that doesn't have to be communicated in words; nothing but pure sound.

Yesterday morning at quarter to six when the birds were still asleep, hundreds of Aurovillians and Auroville guests came to the Matrimandir amphitheatre for meditation to honor the mothers birthday. Shraddhavan who came to Auroville almost forty years ago is giving us an interview about the mothers birthday and the reasons why people are so enthusiastic about her. She is looking after Savitri Bhavan which aspires to be a center for spiritual education aiming to realize human unity. Read more

On our regular update from L'Avenir d'Auroville or Town Development Council Renu shared some points on administrative process of proposed projects, and as she says in Auroville everything depend very much on the capacity and energy of the person in charge of the project. And TDC should be there just to assist the project with the use of the footprint of the galaxy loosely while looking at the ground reality, and that way keep the dynamism of the galaxy without being to attached to the map. Water Task Team will be soon ready to present plans.

Auroville is a universal playground that offers us richness of sounds as well as human diversity. And we were playing. In the Creative Radio workshop, we were playing with sounds - listening to the morning sounds of waking nature, bees buzzing, sounds of children playing with grains of sand, passing through sports grounds listening to the boisterous cries of kids engrossed in their games. Younger children of Deepanam School prepared for the end of the year their own unique presentation of their project works. The youngest ones were visiting Matrimandir, while elder were researching their own social and biological environment and others were busy by visiting services and work units of Auroville. Presentation was for their school friends, holders or representatives of units and services they visited and for teachers. Read more

The Amphitheater Team had chosen to play the first disc of Savitri read by the Mother along with Sunil's music this Thursday 21st of April for the weekly meditation between 6 pm to 6:30 pm. Around thirty persons gathered all around the Amphitheater at Matrimandir to enjoy Sri Aurobindo's initiatory poem expressed by the Mother during this privileged moment. Also an appropriate time to remind one of the Mother's final arrival in Pondicherry on April 24th, ninety-one years ago.

"The Divine plan is always there, all we have to do is open up, and take a next step...keep going..." told us B in an interview about his life, passion for waste management and other projects he's involved in. He came to Auroville in 1974, in its early beginning when town was is the survival mode; saw all the changes and transitions, and yet he feels extremely grateful that he was born at the right time to go trough this incredible adventure, as he named it. B is strongly convinced that Zero Waste Management is and achievable goal, because is something that people can understand. Up to today we managed to come to the point that we recycle 60 percents of the garbage, the rest 40 percents can be slowly chipped away by technology which is already available today.

It was over-packed at the Visitors' Center on Saturday evening, in anticipation of a new production of 'Genius Incorporated Presents' causing laughs way before the show began. As previously announced, the 'Doppelganger' is a scientific fiction of future possibilities, with the advent of dual consciousness; each of us might have expected various options for the play we were all anxious to see. The Genius team didn't let the public down – this humorous piece was insightfully critical as usual, with some new approaches and excellent video clips.  And of course, with an original story of three beings (which highly resembled three known friends in Auroville) coming for a visit, and a possible encounter with a new conscious human being, a superhuman.

Featured in the news a remembrance of 40 years ago today, when Mother sent a special message to those early Aurovilians who would begin the initial digging for what would become the foundation of Matrimandir: 'The fraternity of collaboration; the aspiration towards Unity in Joy and Light.
