Image from Internet (Photographer: Pongal greetings)Today’s interview is wih Aurovilian Kayananda, enthusiatic about the OM choir experience. It’s Pongal, celebrated all over India! It began as a farmer’s festival, but has become a national festival. Bhogi: discarding old things; homes cleaned and decorated. Rice with fresh milk is boiled to overflowing, offered to the Sun God in gratitude for the harvest. Maattu honors cows: they are washed, horns painted brightly, flowers round their necks. Kanu Pidi : girls feed the crows, praying for their brothers: a time of gratitude and family reunions.

Some words from the Mother to some Aurovilians... From a spiritual point of view, India is the formost country in the world. Its mission is to give the example of spiritiuality. Sri Aurobindo came on Earth to teach this to the world. This fact is so obvious, that even a simple, ignorant farmer here is, in his heart, closer to the Divine than all the intellectuals of Europe. All those who want to become Aurovilians must know this, and behave accordingly, otherwise they are unworthy of being Aurovilians.
