| | Thursday, 16 February 2012 | Avacal is one of the chief architects of the American Pavilion's latest project, which he calls the "Ladder House." The structure, which is made of bamboo ladders, rope, and Tetrapack sheets, is a mobile work and living space. At two and a half levels, the structure contains an office, 2 porch-like living areas, and a composting toilet on the first level. On the upper levels there are 8 separate bunk beds for in-house living; and best of all, the entire structure can be partially deconstructed and moved for on-site working conditions.

| | Friday, 10 February 2012 | At the annual Auroville International (AVI) meeting 2012, held at the Multipurpose Hall (Unity Pavilion, International Zone) members of L'Avenir d'Auroville presented current situations, plans and problems. Presentation were extensive and following questions were many since town planning is one of the most vital and often a problematic issue. Another point of discussion for AVI members was that there should be more communication and interaction between working groups and the units.

It consists of twelve small apartments, eight offices and big communal areas. David, one of the architects, is explaining the different aspects of the building like the new systems for waste water treatment and rain water harvest. The later will be able to provide enough water for all inhabitants of the building for the whole year. The group also spoke about starting new projects. A proposal has been made for the new Cite Universitaire. The chairman, Mr. Doshi, elaborated on the need for a urban design, sustainability, knowledge transfer, centralizing and decentralizing, diversity in unity with regard to the usage of space in the Universitaire while avoiding duplication of common facilities.

Mr. Doshi emphasized the importance of making a "vital" city" and quality of life enhancement through astute use of energy and time.. He touched upon various aspects of town planning that enable holistic living.

| | Wednesday, 27 April 2011 | L'Avenir d'Auroville held the meeting with all architects of Auroville on main topic - how to work on development of Auroville, which is so specific and so diverse in purposes and interests. Meeting was called by Governing Board member Mr B. V. Doshi and joined by advisory member Mr. Harijit Singh Anand. As Mr.B.V. Doshi stated at his opening in Auroville many things are unknown and unclear - starting with land, demography facts, activities, housing, institutions and their connections with population, and their purposes. Establishing Development Council, which would be introduced to the Governing Board might bring some clarity and efficiently connect dispersed plans.

| | Tuesday, 23 November 2010 | On Saturday, November 21, Auroville's planning group (L'Avenir d'Auroville) organized a full-day workshop on planning and design. Aurovillian architects were the main participants. At the morning presentation, which was held in the town hall's conference room, Pierre Legrand, an artist and member of L'Avenir d'Auroville, presented his grid concept grid concept presentation. Some participants at the workshop stated that if the city was designed spirally it would be quite helpful. Cristo, another member of L'Avenir d'Auroville and the Green Group, appreciated the grid proposal. Information and outputs of this workshop will be presented to the community in the coming weeks.
